Toccata for Organ by Leo Sowerby (1895-1968) 

Performed in October of 1999 on the organ at Bristol Chapel, Westminster Choir College, Princeton, NJ. Obviously, this piece isn't by me but I'm including it as an example of 20th century music that structurally really works. And yes, it's difficult but it needs to be performed way more often than it is.
